Quantitative Research Assistant/Analyst

Mission Analytics Group, Inc. is a non-advocacy, woman-owned government consulting firm based in San Francisco, conducting program evaluation, data analysis, and technical assistance in health and human services. A small and tight-knit team, we serve local, state, and federal government agencies with a mission to identify, support, and improve effective programs to help vulnerable individuals live safe, healthy, meaningful lives in their communities.
We seek a smart, highly motivated, highly adaptable employee to work with our established team of researchers and analysts. This position will focus in the areas of long-term care, developmental disabilities, HIV/AIDS, Medicaid/Medicare policy, and child/youth and family services.
Example Responsibilities Include:
Qualitative research including site visits, focus groups and interviews
Quantitative analysis using statistical programming packages such as Stata or SAS
Web-based research on public programs
Technical assistance to programs serving individuals with HIV/AIDS or disabilities or those serving low-income families
Contribution to reports with quantitative and qualitative findings
Assist in data collection and report production, including data entry and formatting
Other activities as needed.
The mix of activities will be tailored to the skill set of the successful candidates. The position is ideal for someone seeking two or three years of work experience prior to graduate school.
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, public policy, public health, math, statistics, or related fields.
Any paid work experience (can include part-time work during studies, summer work, or paid internships).
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Flexibility and adaptability – an ability to learn quickly.
Strong time management skills and attentiveness to deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications (any of the following):
Prior work experience related to public health, developmental disabilities, long-term care, or social services for children and youth.
Familiarity with one or more of the following policy areas: health care delivery, long-term care, developmental disabilities, HIV/AIDS, or social services for children and youth.
Experience or coursework in statistics and/or statistical programming (e.g. R, SAS, Stata or SPSS).
About the Position
This is a full-time position with benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance and company 401k contributions. Salary commensurate with experience. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. The position is ideal for new graduates available early summer 2019.
